WS05: 4th Workshop on Future of Wireless Access and Sensing for Industrial IoT (FutureIIoT)

WS05: 4th Workshop on Future of Wireless Access and Sensing for Industrial IoT (FutureIIoT)

The 4th International Workshop on Future of Wireless Access and Sensing for Industrial IoT (FutureIIoT): Enabling Digital Twin of the World will be held in conjunction with the IEEE Globecom conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in December 2022.

Motivation and Scope

The next generation of wireless technologies is envisioned to connect the physical, digital, and biological worlds. This includes the promise of a digital twin of the world where, among other applications, low-latency and critical applications could be digitally visualized and remotely controlled. A comprehensive sensing of the environment, AI-processing in the edge and ultra-reliable and dependable wireless communications are among the pillar technologies to enable such promise. Ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) has been an important aspect of wireless communications since the inception of 5G. Meanwhile, the importance of using existing, and vast, cellular infrastructure to ‘sense’ the environment has also been stressed by the visionaries in the research world, suggesting that next generation cellular technologies will be able to operate joint communications and sensing functionalities. Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications, not only are among the most challenging use cases of wireless systems, but also are expected to bring new economic value to various sectors. Communications and control systems co-design and optimization is going to play a key role in improving efficiency and availability. The fourth workshop on future wireless access and sensing for industrial IoT (FutureIIoT) aims to bring together the researchers and visionaries from academia and industry to share their recent findings. We seek paper submission in relevant fields, including the following:

  • Wireless communications for cyber-physical and extreme networking applications; the road towards 6G
  • Communications technologies for enabling digital twin, connecting the physical, digital and the biological systems
  • Fundamental trade-offs for ultrareliable communications with extreme service availability
  • Role of advanced radar technologies in future digital twin systems; Fundamental trade-offs for joint communications and sensing
